Newport County winger Keanu Marsh-Brown is a target for a host of MLS sides after his performances for Guyana in the Gold Cup, as reported by the South Wales Argus.

His side have exited the competition early, but the Exiles winger was in good form as they did. He starred in their 4-0 defeat to hosts USA, came off the bench as they lost 4-2 to Panama and finished with a full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago.

That's alerted a host of top American sides, including DC United, the home of England's record scorer Wayne Rooney. Chicago Fire, Portland Timbers, Sporting KC and Minnesota United are also all interested in acquiring the services of the former Barnet winger.

Marsh-Brown left Forest Green Rovers for Newport last summer, but failed to make a significant impression on the first team after suffering from a run of injuries. He made 21 outings, scoring once, as the Exiles went all the way to the play-off final.

The Hammersmith-born wide man came through the youth ranks at Arsenal and Fulham, playing for Oldham and Yeovil before his move to Barnet.

The Verdict

I've always liked Marsh-Brown. He's a direct, attacking winger with real pace and a few tricks up his sleeve too. How he hasn't got a good run in a League Two side is a mystery.

He impressed whenever he got on the field for Forest Green and Barnet during their National League days and has clearly showcased his talents whilst over in America.

He is exactly the sort of player I can see thriving over there. The pace of their game would suit him down to the ground and he'd have fans on their feet if he got the ball and got his head down.

Bradley Wright-Phillips flopped in England and succeeded in the MLS, I believe Marsh-Brown could do the same.
