The name Angelo Balanta will resonate with QPR fans - a sprightly young winger who at one time looked to have a bright future at the club, but what's he up to now?

Balanta, now 29-years-old, moved from Colombia to England aged five.

He signed his first professional contract in the football with QPR in January 2008 aged 17, having made his first-team debut the month prior under Luigi De Canio.

QPR looked to have a real prospect on their hands and in his first half-season at the club, the winger made 12 appearances and scored his first goal against Sheffield United in the Championship.

The following season saw Iain Dowie take charge of QPR and he gave Balanta his first start in a League Cup tie against Swindon Town in which he scored, but in the November of that year he was loaned out to Wycombe Wanderers.

A successful loan-spell scoring three in 11 saw him recalled early by Dowie, but injuries thwarted Balanta's progression in the 2009/10 season where he made just four appearances.

That'd prove to be the end of his time at QPR, with three successive loan-spells following at MK Dons and Yeovil - between 2010 and 2013, Balanta played 51 games and scored 10 goals in two-and-a-half seasons at MK Dons and half of one at Yeovil, before being released by QPR in July 2014.

Since then, Balanta has had relatively underwhelming spells with Bristol Rovers and Carlisle United before finding his footing in the National League.

He spent three seasons at Boreham Wood scoring 24 times in over 100 appearances, before signing with Dagenham & Redbridge ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Now in his second season at the club, Balanta has established himself as a prolific player in the fifth-tier of English football, with 14 in 43 for Dagenham.

A player who once promised so much for QPR, but another whose potential wasn't fulfilled - QPR fans will be happy to see he's still managed to make a career for himself and is still playing today.
