Charlton Athletic will be determined to make the perfect start to life under the guidance of their new manager Ben Garner by defeating Accrington Stanley on July 30th.

Ahead of this fixture, the Addicks have managed to draft in a host of fresh faces during the current transfer window.

Steve Sessegnon, Mandela Egbo, Jack Payne, Joe Wollacott, Eoghan O'Connell and Connor McGrandles are all set to feature for Charlton next season after sealing moves to The Valley.

Having meandered their way to a 13th-place finish in the League One standings earlier this year, the Addicks will be hoping to reach new heights in this division in the new term.

Here, we have decided to take a look at what we believe is the strongest Charlton XI that Garner will be able to field against Accrington later this month...

When you consider that Ben Garner deployed the 3-5-2 formation during his spell in charge of Swindon Town last season, he may decide to utilise this system against Accrington.

Craig MacGillivray is expected to be given the nod to feature in the goalkeeping position ahead of Wollacott after claiming 16 clean-sheets in 43 league appearances for the Addicks in the previous term.

O'Connoll will be accompanied in the heart of defence by Ryan Inniss and Sam Lavelle whilst Sessegnon and Corey Blackett-Taylor are expected to occupy the wide roles in this set-up.

Signed on loan from Fulham earlier this month, Sessegnon gained some League One experience last season as he made 10 appearances for Plymouth Argyle at this level.

The 22-year-old could establish himself as a key player for Charlton if he makes a bright start to his temporary spell.

George Dobson and Albie Morgan will be accompanied in central-midfield by Jack Payne who produced a host of impressive performances for Swindon last season.

In the 37 League Two games that he participated in, Payne managed to find the back of the net on 13 occasions whilst he also chipped in with five assists.

Chuks Aneke will be partnered up front by Jayden Stockley who will be confident in his ability to deliver the goods against Accrington due to the fact that he has scored 22 goals in League One during his career.
