Brighton & Hove Albion are be having a terrific season after last year's disappointment and it probably couldn't get any better than it currently is under the management of Chris Hughton.

The former Newcastle United and Norwich City boss has become a firm favourite on the Sussex coast and will possibly become a legend if he can continue this immense form and take them up to the Premier League.

If he did then it would be the Seagulls' first ever campaign in the top flight during the Premier League era and that would be a feat which will never be forgotten by the Brighton faithful, both for the players, manager and everyone involved with the club.

But even the best make mistakes and I am sure Brighton have some regrets from the past which they've made, perhaps if it wasn't for these they may already be in the first division of English football.

The Championship outfit will have gotten rid of a few first-teamers down the years that they wish didn't happen, so here are some of those players Brighton were too quick to sell.

Will Buckley

The 27-year-old winger was one of Brighton & Hove Albion's star players during his last two seasons at the Amex prior to his move to the north-east to play for Sunderland, who were being managed by former Seagulls boss Gus Poyet at the time.

Will Buckley made over 100 appearances for the club before signing for the Black Cats but it hasn't gone all to plan since his departure in August 2014.

The ex-Watford man has played just a handful of matches for the Premier League side, and he has also spent time on loan at Leeds United and Birmingham City, currently with Sheffield Wednesday.

A hefty fee was probably to tempting to reject for Brighton but he was such an influential player and probably could have single-handedly taken them up already.

Steve Cook

Steve Cook, plying his trade for AFC Bournemouth in the top-flight at the minute, initially began his career at Brighton nine years ago but didn't get the chance he deserved at the time.

The centre-back had loan stints at Eastleigh, Eastbourne Borough and the Cherries before switching there permanently in 2012.

Cook, 25, played in just three games for the Seagulls during his four years there but the club must regret selling him now as he is now a solid unit in the Premier League for Bournemouth.

Brighton supporters, was it the right decision to sell these two at the time? Would you be in the top division if they were still here? Who else was probably wrong to be sold? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
