With this player returning to the Stadium of Light after a season out on-loan, rumours are already spurring on whether he has a future at Sunderland.

Bought from Dynamo Kyiv in 2015 for a reported £13 million, Jeremain Lens got off to a good start when he first joined Sunderland, under Dick Advocaat, who was back then the Black cats boss, however after failing to impress David Moyes at the start of this campaign, was loaned to Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Despite his disappointing attitude at the start of the campaign which led him to be sent out on-loan, Lens has turned many pundits faces, putting in many fantastic performances for the Turkish outfit, and turning out to be a crucial member of the Yellow-Canaries side.

Although, with the Dutch international now returning to his parent club Sunderland, and still having two years left on his contract at the Stadium of Light, his future is very uncertain.

So, what could be next for the Sunderland forward?

With Sunderland awaiting a new manager, there is always the option to stay at Sunderland and re-claim a place in their starting line-up.

There is no doubt Lens has incredible talent and if he keeps the correct mentality, could be a key player in helping the Black cats return to the Premier League, but after publicly coming out earlier in the season and wishing relegation upon Sunderland, I think it's highly likely that he fancies a move away from the Tyne and Wear club.

However, with him still tied down to another two years at Sunderland, he may struggle to capture a permanent move away, as Chairman Ellis Short will more than likely want a hefty fee for the Dutchmen.

The option to return to Fenerbahce may also still be on the cards, with the Turkish side's manager Dick Advocaat a big fan of Lens' and has declared his eagerness to attempt to sign the 29-year-old permanently.

Fenerbahce also should be able to fund a permanent move for the winger, and even if they offer slightly less than the price tag set by Sunderland, they might just have to cash in on the Dutchmen while they still can.

Subsequently, if a deal back to Turkey falls through, Lens may have to consider getting loaned out again until his contract expires, if him and the can't come to an agreement.

A move back to his former club PSV, may be an option, as if Lens is available for loan, he would certainly offer superb back-up for Phillip Cocu's side, and may even re-light his career where it all began for him.
