With this player's loan deal away from the club coming to an end, rumours are already spurring around on whether he has a future at Aston Villa.

Bought for from Nantes in 2015, Jordan Veretout was reluctant to play Championship football this season, and asked for a move away from Villa Park after getting relegated from the Premier League in his first season at the club.

Various teams were interested in Veretout's signature, but due to his high price tag set by Dr Tony Xia, he only made a season-long loan move to French outfit Saint Etienne, without an option to buy him come the end of the season.

Following an impressive season for Les Verts, scoring four goals and recording four assists in 36 appearances, Veretout has grabbed the attention of many clubs in France.

So, what's next for the Aston Villa midfielder?

There is always the option of continuing his career at Villa Park.

Steve Bruce, has already shown his admiration for the talented Frenchman, as he made the trip to Old Trafford earlier this when Manchester United faced Saint Etienne in the Europa League, to specifically scout Veretout.

Unfortunately for Bruce, the player's reluctance to not play in the championship this season, more than likely means he's going to want to play at a higher level next season.

But with Dr Tony Xia setting such a high price tag on the Frenchman it will be hard for him to lure away from Villa Park on a permanent basis, but with his gained European experience, his future will probably unravel somewhere else.

The question here is: Where could he end up?

A return to France, would suit Veretout as he is already so familiar with the league, however not many clubs would be able to match the same wage bill that he is payed at Villa Park.

If he was to return to Les Verts, it would probably have to be a loan move again, as Etienne definitely don't have the transfer budget to fund Villa's demands.

French powerhouses such as PSG and Monaco would obviously be able to fund the midfielder's transfer, but as they already have better players to their expose a move to one of those looks unlikely.

On the other hand, Marseille look a perfect suitor for Veretout, a team currently battling for a Europa league spot, and already showing their new found competitiveness under Raul Garcia. The midfielder would join other marquee signings like Patrice Evra and Dimitri Payet, since their recent change in owners.

What about a move back to the Premier League?

With most team's in the Premier League financially capable enough to pull of the transfer of Veretout, picking up his services may be a good move for teams such as Crystal Palace or Swansea City, if both team's are to survive relegation this year.

Averaging more key passes crosses and a higher pass success rate than any other Villa player during his only season in the Premier League, shows his time in the England's top tier wasn't a complete write off.

It will definitely being interesting on how this player's future unfolds, whether he ends up in England or France it remains to be seen.
