West Brom have revealed that Harvey Barnes has been recalled by Leicester City, with the attacker returning to the Premier League club after a successful loan spell at the Hawthorns.

Barnes, 21, was supposed to spend the year under Darren Moore’s guidance in the Championship, but the winger’s impressive form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with Claude Puel recalling him to Leicester.

An announcement has come from West Brom’s official website today, with the Baggies now heading into the second-half of the season without an influential player.

So far this season, Barnes has started all 26 Championship fixtures, playing a crucial role in helping Albion into promotion contention.

The 21-year-old has returned nine goals for his temporary employers, as well as an impressive six assists.

Amongst those goals, Barnes has scored against Leeds United and Norwich City, two of Albion’s promotion rivals.

This news comes on the eve of a massive fixture between Albion and Norwich, with the Canaries visiting the Hawthorns tomorrow afternoon for a clash that could go a long way to deciding who finishes in the automatic promotion places.

The Verdict

This is a big blow for West Brom and it comes at a horrific time.

West Brom are right in the thick of a promotion race and the importance of finding a replacement this month is now huge.

On the eve of a big game like Norwich, Moore will be so frustrated.
