According to a reliable journalist, Vito Mannone could be among the many players set to leave Sunderland this summer.
Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Serie A outfit Atalanta are thinking about a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone this summer.
Sunderland look set to lose Jordan Pickford as he closes in on his £30m switch to Premier League side Everton.
Their back-up goalkeeper Vito Mannone could be about to join Pickford out of the door at the Stadium of Light, leaving Mika as their only stopper.
Atalanta currently have two goalkeepers on their books.
Their first choice 'keeper is Etrit Berisha but he is attracting attention from elsewhere and Atalanta need a contingency plan in case he leaves.
Their back-up option is Pierluigi Gollini, currently on loan from Aston Villa.
The 22-year-old penned an eighteen month loan deal with Atalanta in January after losing his place between the sticks for Championship side Aston Villa.
However, Gollini has only played four times for Atalanta.
Vito Mannone could be drafted in as Berisha's replacement to provide competition with Gollini.
The 29-year-old has plenty of experience, having played 82 Premier League games for Arsenal and Sunderland, as well as loan spells in the second tier with Barnsley and Hull.
The former Italy under-21 international lost his place as Sunderland's first choice last season due to the emergence of England under-21 man Jordan Pickford but they could both depart this summer.
