Napoli could potentially make a move for Milan Djuric this summer if they are able to find a suitor for Andrea Petagna, according to a report from journalist Alfredo Pedulla.

Djuric has recently emerged as a target for Nottingham Forest whilst he is also being tracked by Fiorentina ahead of the upcoming window.

As per Gazetto dello Sport (via Inside Futbol), Forest are currently monitoring the forward's situation at Salernitana.

Djuric is on course to become a free-agent as his current deal with Salernitana is set to expire at the end of June.

Brentford have also been touted as potential suitors for the 32-year-old who produced some promising performances in Serie A last season.

During the 33 appearances that he made at this level, Djuric managed to find the back of the net on five occasions whilst he also provided his team-mates with five assists.

Thanks partially due to Djuric's effectiveness up-front, Salernitana managed to avoid relegation to Serie B last month.

Forest may need to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2022/23 campaign following the expiry of Keinan Davis' loan deal at the City Ground.

The Reds will be preparing for life in the Premier League this summer after defeating Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final in May.

The Verdict

With Napoli now expressing an interest in Djuric, it will be intriguing to see who wins the race for the forward's signature this summer.

Whereas Djuric has demonstrated that he is capable of delivering the goods in Italy, he has yet to feature in the top-flight of English football in his career.

His only spell in the Football League to date came during his time at Bristol City as he scored six goals and provided two assists in 31 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Given that there is no guarantee that Djuric will be able to cope with the competitiveness of the top-flight, it could be argued that Forest ought to switch their attention to other targets this summer.
