Sergio Ramos has moved to wish Kiko Casilla the best for the future after the goalkeeper’s move to Leeds United was confirmed earlier today.

Leeds have swooped to sign Casilla on a four-and-a-half year deal from Real Madrid, the club have confirmed today, with the goalkeeper becoming the first signing of the January transfer window at Elland Road.

Casilla has just ended his second spell with Real Madrid, having spent the last three-and-a-half years at the Bernabéu.

In that time he won three consecutive Champions Leagues with Los Blancos, despite not featuring over 50 times in that three-year spell.

Ramos, who captained the side to those trophies, has now taken to social media to deliver a message to his departing teammate, which read: “Kiko Casilla, always one of us. I’ll miss you and not just for the goals in training.

“Good luck, my friend!”

Casilla’s new chapter with Leeds begins this weekend in Stoke, with the Whites heading to the bet365 Stadium looking to strengthen their position in the race for automatic promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that Casilla will not start the clash with Stoke City, revealing he will name an unchanged side from the 2-0 victory over Derby County last weekend.

That means Bailey Peacock-Farrell will continue in goal.

The Verdict

Whilst Casilla might not have played much in Madrid, he was clearly highly thought of in a high-profile squad.

Ramos’ message proves that and the experience he will have from the last three years will stand him in good stead heading to England.

Leeds will hope that experience helps to improve their chance of success.
