Sergi Canos has sent a message to his Brentford teammate Pontus Jansson after the Sweden International confirmed his place at Euro 2020 with his country on Monday night.

A 3-0 win against the Faroe Islands in Group F was enough to see Jansson and co. qualify for the tournament automatically behind table-toppers Spain, and Canos was quick to send a message to his teammate.

Jansson initially shared a post on his personal Instagram after being made captain for the night, writing: "A good end to a fantastic year with national team. Such an honour to lead a team like this! See you again in March!"

And, in the comments, Canos replied: "Bravo Brateeeeee👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼" with 'brate' translating roughly to 'bro' in English.

The were both essential figures heading into the current campaign for Brentford, especially with Jansson making the move from Leeds United in the summer.

Unfortunately, Canos was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a nasty knee injury around two months ago and will now have to take a spectating role.

28-year-old Jansson has played every minute of the current campaign for the Bees, captaining the side to ninth place in the league with 16 matches played.

This weekend sees them welcome Reading to Griffin Park as they look to make a push for promotion in their final season in their current ground.

The verdict

It is great to see that Canos is still in high enough spirits to continue cheerleading for his current teammates.

He will prove to be a big loss for the Bees but one that they can overcome. There is no question that his continued positivity and support for those still playing could prove essential.
