Brentford attacker Sergi Canos has delivered a positive update to fans as he continues his lengthy recovery from a nasty knee injury.

The Spaniard has not played a minute for the Bees since their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest back in October, suffering his injury in training just a few days later.

But he clearly remains in high spirits and revealed that he was back running on Sunday as his rehabilitation continues.

Can you name the last 12 Brentford players to wear the No.10 shirt?

Prior to the knock, Canos was an ever present in the Bees' starting XI, notching three assists in 11 matches before suffering the knock.

However, Thomas Frank and his side have not exactly suffered without him. In his absence, summer-signing Bryan Mbeumo has stepped up impressively, scoring 11 goals and assisting five more in 26 games.

They now sit in fourth place and just five points behind second-placed Leeds United. This weekend sees them come up against Leicester City in the FA Cup, where they will get the chance to really test their Premier League credentials.

The verdict

Canos is a huge fan favourite at Griffin Park and there is no doubt that this news will be extremely popular among those in the stands.

Whilst I doubt he would displace Mbeumo straight away, he would certainly add some competition for places to the attacking line again.

The club have ridden their luck with Benrahma, Watkins and Mbeumo all avoiding injury so far but that luck is always liable to run out, so the sooner Canos returns the better.
