It's safe to say that Semi Ajayi is a player that Rotherham United supporters will hold in high regard after a number of impressive performances for the Millers.

The 26-year-old played his part in their promotion-winning season back in the 2017/18 campaign, as they beat Shrewsbury Town in the League One play-off final at Wembley.

But their stay in the Championship the following season was a brief one, with the Millers being relegated straight back into the third tier of English football under the management of Paul Warne.

Ajayi certainly made a positive impact with the Millers whilst in the Championship though, and scored some impressive goals in his time with the club, before moving to promotion-chasing West Brom in the summer of 2019.

Speaking in a Q&A session on his Instagram page, Ajayi revealed that his goal against Leeds United in 2019 was his favourite in his time with the Millers.

Ajayi is now playing his football with West Brom, who look as though they're edging closer to winning promotion into the Premier League under the guidance of Slaven Bilic.

Ajayi has made 37 appearances in total for the Baggies this term, and will be keen to play his part in their side with nine games remaining in this year's campaign.

The Verdict:

I'm not surprised to hear that this was his favourite goal for the club.

It was a fantastic strike from Ajayi, and it would have been a goal that was worthy of winning any game at the time. But Leeds badly needed three points from that match, and their hard work paid off in the end as they ran out 2-1 winners.

Ajayi will be fondly remembered for his services to the Millers, as he played a key role in their promotion-winning season, as well as putting in some strong performances to keep Rotherham in with a chance of survival at times last term.

I think he'll be playing his football in the Premier League next season with West Brom, as they look as though they're edging closer to promotion into the Premier League.
