Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has defended the club’s decision to go on a post-season tour to Myanmar despite calls for the club to cancel the trip.
The Whites announced yesterday that they would be heading to the Southeast Asian nation just days after the Championship season had ended and would play two fixtures.
However, given the serious issues with the Myanmar government and it’s people, many fans were angered that Leeds intended to play games there.
Yet, Radrizzani revealed in an open letter that he believes Leeds’ presence will be a positive for the country.
“I believe the tour will have a positive impact on the local community in parts of the country we intend to visit. This was a carefully considered decision and we knew it would be controversial, but this is about people not governments.”
But, that still hasn’t convinced all fans that the club are making the right decision, although some did agree with him.
Here’s how they reacted to his message on twitter…
Sell up. Fraud.

No.. you're dragging our name through the mud in exchange for media rights. You ain't getting another penny out of me.

This reasoning should have been made public at the time you announced the tour if you knew the controversy you would attract. This after the fact makes people doubt the authenticity of your words. You know actions speak louder than words Andrea.

Your ownership of Leeds united is now nothing but farcical. Be a man admit you've got this massively wrong then pack your bags an sell the club to somebody with its interest at heart.

Well said Andrea I applaud you fronting up and I agree about not turning backs this is football and brings people together and I’m sure the people of this country will be thankful let’s make sure we have the right close season and are ready for next competing at the top

I thought you said you would listen to the fans and their opinions.
Clearly, when it comes to you lining your own pockets you don't care about the fans or our beautiful club.
WE DO NOT WANT OUR CLUB ASSOCIATED WITH THE ATROCITIES OF THE BURMA GOVERNMENT.#LUFCNO2BURMA

Well said Andrea ???????? Too many people are like sheep. Hear a negative comment and jump on the band wagon.
You’re intentions are clear and for positive reasons – it’s others that are making this a negative thing and linking it incorrectly to politics.

Not good enough. Sorry but you don’t go playing football in a country that is ethnically cleansing it’s population even if it is ‘close to your heart’… unforgivable decision.
