Hull City will be looking to build upon their recent victory over Barnsley when they make their return to Championship action this weekend.

The Tigers, who are currently 22nd in the Championship standings, are set to face Birmingham City at the MKM Stadium on Saturday.

With the transfer window set to open in January, it will be intriguing to see whether Hull are able to keep some of their key players at the club during this particular transfer window.

One of the individuals who has emerged as a potential target for a Premier League club is Keane Lewis-Potter.

A report by Hull Live earlier this year suggested that Leicester City were believed to be keeping tabs on the winger.

Here, we have decided to take a look at the pros and cons of Hull sanctioning a permanent exit for Keane-Potter in 2022.

When you consider that Hull currently value Lewis-Potter at £12m, they could potentially use this money to revitalise their squad in January if Leicester opt to splash the cash on the winger.

Any potential investment will depend on whether a takeover deal involving businessman Acun Ilicali is completed before this particular transfer window as the club are currently under a transfer embargo.

By spending the money made available to him, Tigers manager Grant McCann may be able to build a team which is capable of competing at this level.

With Lewis-Potter's current deal at the MKM Stadium set to run until 2023, Hull will unquestionably have a great chance of securing a sizeable fee for one of their academy graduates.

Keep

Whilst a host of Hull's players have underperformed this season, Lewis-Potter has managed to deliver some impressive displays in the Championship in recent months.

As well as scoring three goals for the Tigers at this level, the winger has provided three assists for his team-mates in 17 appearances.

A key cog in Hull's team, Lewis-Potter's departure in January could have a negative impact on the club's fortunes in the second-tier as there is no guarantee that they will be able to draft in a sufficient replacement in such a short period of time.

Taking this into consideration, the Tigers ought to keep Lewis-Potter until the 2022 summer transfer window as selling him in January could prove to be a major error as it may lead to relegation.
