Nottingham Forest’s attention is already turning to the summer transfer window, with Aitor Karanka keen to highlight some of the club’s summer plans in a recent interview with the Nottingham Post.

Since Karanka’s arrival at the City Ground, Forest are beginning to look a far more composed outfit, with the Reds managing to find some consistency prior to the international break.

That consistency has been key to pulling Forest clear of any serious relegation threat, with Karanka’s side currently sitting 16th.

There are still plenty of fixtures remaining in the Championship, but Forest’s attention is clearly beginning to turn to the summer transfer window, where Karanka will be looking to once again tinker with his squad to turn them into promotion contenders.

With that in mind, we take a look at Forest’s squad, identifying a player Karanka needs to sell, one he needs to send on-loan away from the City Ground and one he needs to keep within his ranks…

Since Clough’s arrival at Forest it hasn’t really happened for the talented forward.

Karanka opted to move the 23-year-old out on-loan during the January transfer window, with Clough re-signing for Bolton Wanderers on a temporary deal.

Experience seems to be what Karanka wants and it is hard to see Clough getting an opportunity under him at the City Ground.

Walker made a reasonable impact for Forest this season towards the end of 2017, but didn’t fit into Karanka’s plans.

Like Clough, Walker is now with Bolton across the Championship, but has struggled for regular opportunities under Phil Parkinson.

A loan move away from Forest to the lower leagues should help the 21-year-old’s development.

It’s hard to know what Grant has to do to gain a regular opportunity at the City Ground.

The 23-year-od is currently impressing for Notts County, and has 18 goals to his name already this season, including 15 in League Two.

Karanka needs to seriously consider handing the midfielder a chance in the Championship.
