Sheffield Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher is set to miss eight to ten weeks with a knee injury, which has left plenty of Owls fans devastated.
The 32-year-old has been a key man for Wednesday this season–top-scoring with 12 goals in 22 Championship appearances.
Fletcher has seen his season hampered by injury issues and the Owls struggled without him across the festive period–narrowly beating Bristol City and then losing to Stoke City and Cardiff City.
He returned to the side for the FA Cup tie against Brighton and helped Garry Monk’s side win the game but was carried off in the second half with a knee injury.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Elland Road on Saturday, Monk revealed the extent of the 32-year-old’s injury lay-off.
💬 GM: Steven Fletcher has had his scan and it’s good and bad news. Structurally the knee is fine but he will be out for a significant period of time, we’re looking at 8-10 weeks #swfcLIVE

Monk’s options without Fletcher appear quite limited, as Jordan Rhodes, Sam Winnall and Atdhe Nuhiu have scored just six goals between them this season.
Wednesday have slipped down the table due to their poor festive form and now sit sixth. You feel if they’re to have a chance at making the play-offs they will need to sign a striker in January.
