Portsmouth's on-loan Norwich City defender Sean Raggett says he does not know what his future holds beyond the end of his current deal at Fratton Park, as the uncertainty about the conclusion to the football season continues.

Raggett joined Pompey on a season-long loan deal back in the summer transfer window, and has since made 36 appearances in all competitions for the club, helping them to fourth in the current League One standings, two points adrift of the automatic promotion places.

However, with Raggett's deal at Fratton Park - and his contract with parent club Norwich - both set to expire at the end of June, the defender's future is still up in the air, with the season not expected to be completed by that point.

Speaking to the Portsmouth News about his future beyond the end of June, Raggett said: "I'm out of contract at Norwich at the end of June and nobody knows what they're going to do if players can extend their contract for a short amount of time or sign a completely new deal.

"I don't really know and we're a bit in the dark about that as well. I think the clubs themselves aren't too sure what's going on so it's hard for them to give us any information when they probably don't know themselves.

"It's a unique situation, it's never really happened before."

Raggett joined Norwich from Lincoln back in 2017, but has so far made just two appearances for the Canaries, instead spending time back on loan with the Imps, and then at Rotherham, prior to his temporary move to Portsmouth last summer.

While Raggett himself is uncertain about his future, Portsmouth boss Kenny Jackett is said to be optimistic about securing the services of Raggett - and the club's three other loanees - until the end of the season, whenever that may be.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

When you look at his time at Norwich so far, Raggett has never really been given the chance to prove himself at Carrow Road, meaning it could be difficult for him to secure a new deal with the Premier League basement dwellers in the summer.

However, it does seem as though his prospects at Fratton Park are slightly more promising, and that should at least offer some source of encouragement for the defender going forward.
