Cardiff City central defender Sean Morrison has given his views on the role of the team leaders at the club following Neil Harris's recent appointment.

Harris' first game in charge of the side is against Charlton on Saturday at The Valley, and Morrison has expressed the important role the leaders in the dressing room have had to play recently, with the adjustment to the new coaching staff, and Neil Warnock's departure having their affects on the team.

In the pre-match press conference ahead of the game between the two sides, Morrison said there are a considerable amount of leaders at Cardiff at present, which has helped the team in the current period of transition at the football club.

"[Marlon] Pack has come in and is a leader, [Lee] Peltier, [Joe] Ralls - he has come on as a leader.

The boys don’t need picking up, we just have to get right behind the new manager."

The 28-year-old also spoke about Neil Harris, and what the new Cardiff manager expects of his players going forward.

"It’s been enjoyable to hear what he has to day. He wants us to be solid and score more goals," Morrison said.

"We’ve had mixed results and have been under-performing. It will start on the training ground, if we can buy into his philosophy hopefully results will change."

The Verdict

The role of team leaders during challenging periods in a dressing room is key, and with Pack, Ralls and Peltier stepping up in a time of need, that can only be of help to the whole squad.

It also seems that Neil Harris had made a good initial impression on the squad since his arrival, and the players will want to have their full focus on the Charlton game.
