All is not well at Charlton Athletic right now as they slumped to yet another defeat - this time against Accrington Stanley at The Valley.

A victory against Fleetwood Town before the international break offered the Addicks some hope that a revival was on the cards - but the last few days have seen them sink once again.

Nigel Adkins' side were downed 2-1 at Sincil Bank against Lincoln City at the weekend and despite being level at half time against Stanley last night, they quickly found themselves 3-1 down in the second half.

Jayden Stockley reduced the arrears but they couldn't find a third goal and the loss meant Charlton remain in 22nd position in the League One table - which is a massively underachieving position considering the squad they have on paper.

Frustrations are rising on a daily basis among the fanbase but midfielder Sean Clare took to Instagram following the club's latest on-field setback to issue a rallying cry on behalf of the squad.

The Verdict

It's all well and good sending rallying messages to the fans but unless actions are taken on the pitch to address the bad run of form then it is meaningless in the eyes of Charlton supporters.

Following the summer recruitment, coupled with the good League One record of Adkins, no-one expected this early season form from the Addicks whatsoever.

They have game-changing players in their side but for whatever reason it's just not clicking right now and a change may have to be made in the dugout to turn things round.

Adkins' appointment promised quite a lot in the early stages but something isn't working - Clare has made it clear though that the players are feeling the pain as well as the fans which may count for something.
