Wolverhampton Wanderers extended their lead at the top of the Championship table to four points, after Nuno Santo’s men secured a comfortable 4-1 victory over Leeds United.

The Molineux rout began when defender Barry Douglas curled in a delightful free-kick that left visiting goalkeeper Andy Lonergan with no chance, before the advantage was doubled through Ivan Cavaleiro.

Leeds fought back through Ezgjan Alioski, before a Ronaldo Vieira red card for the Whites turned the tide, with Diogo Jota and Helder Costa completing the scoring at Molineux.

Nuno Santo’s side have now won thirteen of their opening eighteen league fixtures, with the club looking increasingly likely to secure a first Premier League appearance in six years.

Douglas has proven an astute summer signing by Santo, with the 28-year-old Scot impressing since arriving at the club from Turkish side Konyaspor
