According to a report by The Scottish Sun, Hearts are weighing up moves for a duo of Football League players as they eye ten new signings in a major summer overhaul at the club.

Scottish Premiership side Hearts are close to completing the signings of Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor and Cambridge United striker Uche Ikpeazu.

McGregor is the number one choice at Hull but Hearts are confident on landing the veteran stopper this summer.

The 36-year-old has over 500 career appearances to his name, having represented Hull, Cardiff City, Besiktas, Dunfermline, St Johnstone and Rangers.

Now the Scotland international could be tempted to return to his home country for the final stages of his career to join Hearts.

Hearts are also keen on bringing in Uche Ikpeazu from Cambridge United.

The physical 6ft 3in centre forward is renowned for his strength and his hold-up play and he has grabbed a few goals this term for the U’s as well.

The 23-year-old has 14 goals in 42 matches in all competitions for the League Two side but a move to the Scottish Premiership could appeal to the former Watford man as his next step to progress his career.

The Verdict

Allan McGregor is a reliable pair of hands and Hull will be disappointed to see him go, although they could use the extra money to bring in another, younger player. Uche Ikpeazu is a handful for any defender because he is so big and strong. Whether he can perform in the top flight of Scottish football remains to be seen but it is an exciting opportunity for the 23-year-old.
