The 18-year-old striker is considered to be one of the finest young players within Aston Villa’s ranks but the teenager’s future remains shrouded in scrutiny, as his current deal is set to expire next summer and there has been no progress on an extension.
Hepburn-Murphy has so far failed to put pen to paper on a new deal and Rangers are now monitoring the situation, with the SPL giants able to benefit from a FIFA ruling that allows players under the age of 24 to move north of the border, for a minimal compensation fee.
18-year-old Hepburn-Murphy could follow in the footsteps of Jordan Rossiter and Joe Dodoo, who moved from the Premier League to Rangers in the summer, and the young striker would be a tremendous addition to Mark Warburton’s side.
Having made his Premier League debut last September, Hepburn-Murphy has struggled for opportunities this term following the club’s relegation and so far has just one appearance to his name, featuring against Newcastle United back in September.
The youngster’s opportunities have been limited due to Villa’s abundance of options in attack but Hepburn-Murphy has impressed for the U23’s, scoring four goals this season.
Villa fans…. What do you make of this? Would you be gutted to see the youngster depart? Let us know below!
