New Preston North End signing Scott Sinclair has paid tribute to the fans of his former club Celtic, after completing his permanent transfer to the Championship club.

It was announced on Wednesday that Sinclair has signed for Preston on a deal that will keep him at Deepdale until at least the summer of 2022.

That move brings an end to Sinclair's three and a half year association with Celtic, during which time the winger made quite an impact at the Scottish club, as he scored 62 goals in 167 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys, helping them to win three consecutive domestic trebles.

It also appears as though the club's fans had quite an impact on Sinclair himself.

In his first press conference since joining Preston, the 30-year-old spoke openly about his relationship with Celtic's fans and the backing they gave him, with North End's official Twitter account quoting the winger as saying: “They made an amazing song for me, I had an amazing relationship with the Celtic fans and the love and support they have shown me over the last three years or so I can never repay.”

Sinclair could now make his debut for Preston on Saturday afternoon, when his new side make the short trip to Ewood Park to face local rivals Blackburn Rovers.

The Verdict

This is a nice touch from Sinclair.

Those Celtic fans certainly gave him and his teammates plenty of support during his time at the club, and you imagine they will appreciate the fact that that will be recognised beyond the end of his time there.

For now however, Sinclair must focus on getting Preston's promotion push back on track following some disappointing recent results, and given his past promotion and trophy-winning experience, you feel he is someone who can help Alex Neil's side to do just that.
