‘Schoolboy defending!’ – Reading fans react to failure to beat ten-man Fulham

Despite playing against ten men for virtually the entire match, Reading failed to beat Fulham, whom they defeated en route to the Championship play off final last season, on Saturday afternoon, as the match finished in a 1-1 draw.
Tomas Kalas, having conceded the penalty that allowed the Royals to secure their Wembley birth last season at the Madjeski Stadium, continued his woes at the same ground, when he was sent off within the first minute of the match.
The Royals toiled in search of a goal to break the deadlock, but finally made the breakthrough on 61 minutes, when Liam Kelly put Jaap Stam’s men in front.
However, a former Royal was to deny the home side all three points as Lucas Piazon slotted home a wonderful solo goal eight minutes from time.
Reading fans on Twitter reacted to the result by calling for more signings, especially in the striking department, in order to avoid the kind of profligate finishing that saw them unable to finish off the game yesterday.
Scorn was also poured on Chris Gunter, whom some fans was at fault for Piazon’s late equaliser.
Hoping Trump can delay world Armageddon until we've at least signed a striker……#readingfc

Mannone has a very distinctive way in which he goes up to claim the ball in the air. Very deliberate. I like it. #readingfc

So no need to panic over the way the points were dropped yesterday. (Of course we'll regret it at the end of the season…)#COYR#ReadingFC

Just seen yesterday's highlights…thought red card was a tad harsh, Kelly strike superb, VDB at fault for equaliser #readingfc #ffc

Still can't get my head around the VDB substitute! For me, that's what lost the game #readingfc

For this seeking to blame Gunter, Stam referred to two mistakes leading to goal. Neither involved Gunter but #letsblameGunter #readingfc

One of the very few positives was Manonne's distribution overall. Released the ball so much quicker than the dawdling Al-Habsi #ReadingFC

Schoolboy defending from Gunter for Fulham's goal. Stand your ground and they don't score. Fucking idiot. Such a bad player #ReadingFC

So from what I've seen Button made 3-4 decent saves & FFC scored from a mistake. Annoying but these days happen. Not end of world.#readingfc

#ReadingFC the more you watch the #ffc equaliser the more it shows how useless Gunter is. Should have taken Piazon out anyway possible

71% possession and 23 shots should have led to a comfortable win. Classic Reading. #readingfc pic.twitter.com/0cdRZc58up

Gunter has got 9 assists and 1 goal in 196 appearances for the club. For an attacking full back, that simply isn't good enough. #readingfc

Kalas must absolutely hate the Mad Stad #readingfc
