Dwight Gayle completed a move to West Brom 48 hours ago, but came off the bench last night as they earned a 1-1 draw at ambitious Nottingham Forest.

A late Matt Phillips strike earned the Baggies a point, but it was the performance of the former Newcastle man that got the fans commenting on social media.

27-year old Gayle scored 23 times in 34 outings for Newcastle as they earned promotion from the Championship in 2016/17, but struggled to impose himself on the top flight in the same manner. He scored six in 37 last season, prompting the switch with Salomon Rondon this week.

He came on just after the hour mark at the City Ground and helped prompt a Baggies fight back to earn Darren Moore his first point as a Championship Manager. he hit the post twice, either side of Phillips strike, and could have wrapped up the points West Brom barely deserved.

Baggies fans were delighted with the new signing, remarking that he changed the game and looked more committed than many of their established stars.
