Wolverhampton Wanderers have survived the Championship drop this season, and the Black Country side will look forward to next year with immense anticipation.

With Chinese owners at the helm, Wolves fans will expect investment during the offseason, and this will undoubtedly bring a great deal of excitement to the long suffering Molineux faithful.

A return to the Premier League will be the aim for manager, Paul Lambert, and the former Villa boss will look to guide his side to back to the top flight after falling from the division in 2012.

Although many will hope that Wolves’ owners splash the cash, there are a number of players plying their trade in the division who will be on the lookout for a new club in June when their current contracts expire.

Lambert could save himself a few quid by considering free agency, and here are THREE stars good enough to aid a Wolves promotion push.

Ryan Bennett

Grays born defender Bennett has been with Norwich City for 5 years, but has always been a peripheral figure at Carrow Road.

In recent months however, the former Peterborough man has established himself in the Norwich side, and has made a series of appearances.

This run has come at the right time for the player, who has put himself in the shop window for when he is thrust into the unfamiliar world of unemployment.

Bennett has a lot to offer, and could push for a starting place in the Wolves line up. If not, he would certainly be an excellent addition to the squad.

The defender would arrive at Molineux with an abundance of experience, and experienced promotion with his current club in 2015. Knowing what it takes to get out of the division could prove vital in Wolves bid to escape the league.

Jason Lowe

For Wolves to pull this one off would be a real coup.

Lowe has impressed in a poor Blackburn side, and has been linked with a move to several Premier league clubs.

The 25- year-old began his career at Ewood Park in 2003, and is a product of the club’s academy.

A contract offer from his boyhood club has failed to materialise, so a fresh challenge is certainly on the cards.

If the Premier League’s interest in the player results in concrete offers, then Lowe will surely make the step up to the top flight.

However if nothing does come to fruition, the holding midfielder-cum-centre back would fit perfectly into the Wolves squad, and slide straight into Lambert’s starting line up.

Pulling this deal off amidst Premier League interest would be a real statement of intent, and Lambert should work hard to get a deal over the line.

Marley Watkins

Winger Watkins has been a sensation for Barnsley this season.

The player has really stepped up in the absence of Conor Hourihane, who departed in January for Aston Villa, and has scored 10 goals and assisted 7 more in 33 Championship starts this season.

Barnsley have failed to agree a new deal with the former Swansea City scholar, so a move at the end of the season is almost certain.

Cardiff City have been linked with a move for the player, who may feel a move back to Wales is the right one to make, but with Wolves showing ambition to be a better side next year, a move to Wolverhampton could be on.

The goalscoring winger would add new quality to the Wolves attack, who have relied heavily upon the abilities of midfield duo of David Edwards and Helder Costa to provide the goals this year.

The pair have 10 goals apiece, and adding 10 goal Watkins to the equation would make for a tasty midfield.

Lambert should move for the player before Cardiff firm up their interest in the player.

However if Watkins has any ambition, he should avoid a move back home, and consider ambitious Wolves as his next destination.
