Leeds United’s difficult run of results over the past few months have been well documented, but having picked up several wins in the past few weeks, boss Thomas Christiansen will begin to feel that his side’s barren run is coming to an end.

The Dane has absorbed significant pressure from fans and the media alike, but was given the full backing of chairman Andrea Radrizzani, with the Italian’s faith beginning to be repaid.

January could prove to be a huge month for the former APOEL manager, with the squad in need of a timely boost ahead of the second half of the season.

Christiansen was allowed to spend in the summer following the £15 million sale of top scorer Chris Wood, and could be handed with funds in January if the club are in contention for a place in the top-six.

However, if funds are limited at Elland Road, free agency could prove a suitable alternative for the manager, with a magnitude of quality players currently on the search for new clubs.

With that in mind, Christiansen may target these two players…

Guilherme Siqueira

This would be a huge coup for the club, but with Victor Orta working behind the scenes, this could be possible.

The 31-year-old Brazilian has been without a club since leaving Atletico Madrid in the summer, and could provide the perfect upgrade on current left-back Gaetano Berardi.

Siqueira has led a distinguished career, enjoying a phenomenal spell with Spanish side Granada which earned him a switch to the capital, and could now decide to head to the English game to try his hand at a new league.

Siqueira’s contract demands would not be too off-putting for Leeds, with the Brazilian sure to accept decent terms on a deal until the end of the season.

Berardi has been suspect at times this season, with his temperament often questioned, and with Leeds’ Spanish influence at the club, Siquiera may decide a switch to Yorkshire could work.

Jan Kirchhoff

This would be another huge acquisition, but something Leeds are capable of pulling off.

The former Sunderland midfielder impressed during his spell at The Stadium of Light, and his experience would prove to be a welcome addition to the midfield at Elland Road.

The German struggled when he first came to England as a central defender, but found his feet in the middle of the park, and his knowledge of the game would allow the likes of Ronaldo Vieira and Kalvin Phillips to learn from his teachings.

Leeds have options in the middle of the park, but with Polish international Mateusz Klich possibly leaving in the new year, Christiansen may want one more option to call upon.

Orta could work some magic to secure a deal for the player, who would be an excellent squad addition should a deal materialise.

A move could work wonders for Leeds’ promotion hopes.
