With their automatic promotion hopes now looking incredibly slim, Leeds United have been dealt yet another major blow as enter the latter stages of the campaign.

The Whites endured a bitterly disappointing afternoon in West London on Easter Monday, where they put in arguably their worst performance of the season against Brentford, losing 2-0.

A disappointing evening was made even worse, with the news that versatile star Gjanni Alioski will be out for the season after tearing his meniscus, which rules him out of action for around six to eight weeks.

It is such a disappointing blow for the Macedonia international, who has been deployed as a left-back for the majority of the campaign in the absence of Barry Douglas.

Plenty of current teammates have sent messages of support for Alioski via social media, with former Leeds star Samu Saiz the latest player to share a message of support to his former teammate.

Saiz left Elland Road to join Getafe in December, in a departure which shocked everybody concerned with the Yorkshire club.

The attacking midfielder has since just two league starts for the La Liga side, and is facing an uncertain future over in Spain.

The Verdict

Saiz's message of support to Alioski is clearly a nice touch, and most fans would kill to have a player of his ability in their team right now.

Brentford sussed Leeds out at the weekend - they packed the midfield and played Marcelo Bielsa's men at their own game.

Since he left in December, Leeds have missed Saiz's creativity and flair in behind the striker, and they would surely love to have him back now.
