Bristol City attacker Sammie Szomidcs has sent a message to the club's former captain Josh Brownhill after he made his Premier League bow for Burnley on Saturday.

The 24 year-old came on in second half injury time with the Clarets already three goals to the good, replacing Jack Cork, but it was still a moment he was rightly proud of.

And plenty of his former Bristol City teammates sent messages of support as well, including Szmodics who posted on his Instagram story:

Writing alongside the original post from Burnley's account, Szmodics wrote: "You love to see it".

Brownhill made 148 appearances for the Robins during his three and a half year stint at Ashton Gate and had scored five times for Lee Johnson's side already before his departure.

Szmodics also left the club in te January window, joining Peterborough United in League One until January and he has got off to a flying start at London Road.

The 24 year-old has netted four times in eight games and assisted four more as well as he looks to prove himself to his parent club ahead of next season.

How much can you remember about Bristol City’s season so far?

The verdict

I don't think it will be too long before Brownhill is starting regularly for Burnley.

He has the workrate that Sean Dyche loves his players to have but also has a real eye for a pass and knows where the goal is, something others in their midfield do not have.

If Szmodics keeps up his current form he will also surely be starting for Bristol City next season as well. He has been brilliant for The Posh.
