Sammie Szmodics has taken to Twitter to praise Blackburn Rovers' fans for the support that they illustrated in yesterday's clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Rovers managed to secure all three points at Ewood Park as they extended their unbeaten start to the 2022/23 campaign.

Blackburn opened the scoring in this fixture just before half-time as Sam Gallagher teed up Ben Brereton Diaz who fired an effort into the back of the net from the edge of the box.

Following the break, Brereton Diaz set up a goal for Gallagher as Rovers doubled their advantage.

Grady Diangana pulled a goal back for West Brom who threatened to level proceedings on a number of occasions.

However, Karlan Grant and Semi Ajayi both missed chances to score as Blackburn held on to seal victory in front of their own fans.

As a result of this victory, Blackburn reclaimed top spot in the Championship standings and are now two points clear of the chasing pack.

Rovers will be looking to back up this latest triumph by producing a positive performance against Reading on Wednesday.

Reflecting on his side's clash with the Baggies on Twitter, Szmodics has admitted that it was a great win for Blackburn.

The 26-year-old posted: "Great win.

"Amazing support @Rovers."

The Verdict

Blackburn's start to the new campaign has been very impressive as they have already adapted to Tomasson's style of play.

Whereas Szmodics was not directly involved in a goal for Rovers yesterday, he has shown glimpses of promise since sealing a move from Peterborough United.

The attacking midfielder managed to find the back of the net in his side's 3-0 victory over Swansea City earlier this month as he registered a WhoScored match rating of 7.08 in this fixture.

By improving his consistency this season, there is no reason why Szmodics cannot go on to become a key player for Blackburn as they aim to move forward as a club under the guidance of Tomasson.
