Marcelo Bielsa’s preference to have smaller squad has been tested this season, with Leeds United having to deal with a number of separate injuries over the course of the first 16 fixtures of the campaign.

Leeds are in a strong position despite that, but the general feeling was that Bielsa would move to strengthen his hand in January, particularly if Leeds were fighting for promotion.

The 63-year-old has been discussing the “difficult” January window with Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Patrick Bamford, Gaetano Berardi, Luke Ayling and Izzy Brown, all long-term absentees, will be returning in the New Year, with Bielsa also mentioning them as he discussed the winter window.

The head-coach admitted he was satisfied with the make-up of his squad, but stressed he would listen to the opinion of others around Elland Road when the window comes around.
