Nottingham Forest midfielder Samba Sow has posted an update on social media, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old has been one of the standout players for Forest since joining the club from Russian Premier League side Dynamo Moscow this summer and has impressed with his performances in defensive midfield.

Sow has made nine appearances for Forest in the Championship this term, although he's missed the Reds' last two league matches, after suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 win over Brentford before the international break over three weeks ago.

The Mali international is expected to return to action within the next couple of weeks and Forest have missed his presence in the middle of the park over recent games, falling to back-to-back league defeats against Wigan Athletic and Hull City.

However, Sow has now delivered an update on his progress on social media, suggesting that it won't be too long before he's able to return to action.

The midfielder posted a photo of himself in the treatment room on his personal Instagram story and added a caption saying, "It's only a matter of time".

After missing out on the play-offs under Martin O'Neill last season, Forest have made a promising start to their new campaign under Sabri Lamouchi.

The Reds are currently tenth in the table, although they have a game in hand on the teams above them, after their clash with Reading at the City Ground at the weekend was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The Verdict

This is very encouraging news for Nottingham Forest fans. Sow is a very talented footballer and he's been excellent for the Reds so far this season.

He provides Forest with some extra grit and tenacity in the middle of the park which enables those around him to flourish. He's going to have a very important role to play in the Reds' promotion push this season.

Forest have really missed his presence in midfield in the last few matches, so it'll be a major boost for the Reds when he's able to return to action and this latest update from him suggests that he's not far away.
