Stoke City striker, Sam Vokes, has stated that the Potters have the dressing room character to turn their season around after a dismal start sees them sit bottom of the league.

Nathan Jones' side have failed to win a league fixture in their first seven games of the campaign, and have picked up just one point.

The next two fixtures for the Potters are both tough once more, a trip to Brentford is followed by a home fixture against a Nottingham Forest team that's impressing so far this season.

Pressure is mounting on the manager, but the players are defiant, and Vokes has stated that the squad has the character and belief to turn the season around.

Speaking to StokeonTrentLive, Vokes said: “I can’t go too much into individual stuff because there’s been a lot that’s happened, but it’s important it does turn round because we’ve got too strong a squad to be where we are in the league.

“We all have to take responsibility. It’s not just down to one person. It’s a group thing.

“What I will say is that we have a good dressing room and that’s the only thing that can turn us round at this point, the characters we have in that dressing room and everyone standing up and taking responsibility for what’s happened and what we can do to move forward.”

The Verdict

It will be tough for them to get out of this rut, where they can't seem to get any luck or change of fortune in any of their fixtures.

They've been plagued with silly individual errors, red cards and even own goals as they sit tight at the bottom of the table.

Vokes has stated that they have characters in the dressing room, which they do but unless they recognise their mistakes then there isn't going to be any progress.
