Salerno turns down Palermo for Leeds United

Nicola Salerno has turned down Palermo to join Leeds United as sporting director.
Salerno has been linked with a move to Elland Road ever since Massimo Cellino took over at the club.
Salerno held talks with Palermo last week but has turned them down, and flown to England to team up with his former President at Cagliari.
Speaking to Italian reporters regarding Palermo Salerno said “I do not have the heart.”
“I can confirm that I have turned down Palermo. The club wanted an immediate response, while I did not have sufficient certainty.”
It is now expected that Leeds will have an influx of players come in from Serie A & Serie B given Salerno and Cellino’s contacts in Italy.
He is expected to sit down with the owner, Benito Carbone and Dave Hockaday as early as next week to identify players for a promotion challenge.
