‘Sadly he is Chelsea’s future,’ ‘Way out of our price range’ – Many Birmingham City fans value 22-year-old

Many Birmingham City fans have shared how much they would be willing to spend on Jake Clarke-Salter if they had the chance to make his loan move a permanent one.

Pep Clotet’s Blues have massively improved of late having suffered inconsistent form for the first half of the season.

Whilst the arrival of Scott Hogan from Aston Villa and improved form of the likes of Lukas Jutkiewicz and Jeremie Bela has played a part – defensively, Birmingham are much better.

One of the key players behind that defensive success is Chelsea loanee Clarke-Salter, who has been performing well of late.

Having moved to St Andrews in the summer, Clarke-Salter is currently on a personal unbeaten run of 14 games for the club, and the 22-year-old has been keeping Harlee Dean on the substitutes bench.

Who did Birmingham sign Gary Gardner from?

Having been at Premier League side Chelsea since 2006, Clarke-Salter has featured at Stamford Bridge – but his spell with the Blues is his fourth loan spell – having spent time with Bristol City, Sunderland and Vitesse.

Looking at the prospect of a permanent summer move, Football League World’s Ben Crump asked fans via Facebook page Birmingham City Fan Zone: “How much would you be willing to pay for Jake Clarke-Salter if we had the chance?” – and below are some of the responses.

Kieron Bobby Alison: Way out of our price range, don’t think we’d get the chance either

Kenny Jones: Just there for first team experience no chance of permanent

Andrew Shannon: 5-9mil

Joshua Clarke: 4 mill

Mick Greaves: £5.mill

Paul Gill: Chelsea will do a deal involving Jude, a years loan of Jude and Clarke Salter as part of the deal I reckon.

Harry Beech: 8 million +

Ray Blue Stinton: Sadly he is Chelsea’s future . No way they will sell him

Adrian Glenn: Under Mourinho, there’d be a chance. Under Lampard, who has shown that he is focusing on bringing through youth, there’ll be no chance. Bet Derby thought they had a chance at Mason Mount too, not gonna happen sadly

Jack Mitchell:  Think he is in Chelsea’s future plans. But anything around 5-8 mil would be an absolute bargain. However with today’s market I can see Chelsea asking for double that.
