Stoke City have parted company with Geoff Cameron, with the versatile American heading across the Championship to link back up with Queens Park Rangers in a free transfer.

The news was confirmed by the Potters’ official site today, ending Cameron’s seven-year association at the bet365 Stadium.

Playing in both the midfield and defence, Cameron made nearly 200 appearances in the red and white of Stoke, but doesn’t fit in Nathan Jones’ new vision for the Potters.

The 34-year-old made 19 appearances last year on loan with the R’s and impressed at Loftus Road under Steve McClaren. Now, he’s back at the club with Mark Warburton, as QPR look to head in a different direction.

He departs with the best wishes of many, including plenty of the club’s fans, who he was clearly appreciated by.
