Sabri Lamouchi has only been in charge of Nottingham Forest for a short while, but he's already attracting the interest of Premier League clubs, as reported by the print edition of the Sun (6 October, page 63).

Forest are currently second in the Championship and hunting a return to the top flight for the first time this century.

Having got through two managers last season, Aitor Karanka and Martin O'Neill, they pinned their hopes on the little-known Frenchman in the summer.

He led Rennes to the Europa League in France but had no experience in the English game. Despite this, his Forest side are now level on points with leaders West Brom and haven't lost since the opening day of the season.

They have a 3-0 victory against rivals Derby to their name in the EFL Cup and this weekend kept up the pressure with a 1-0 win against Brentford at the City Ground.

That turnaround has alerted at least one Premier League club, although the report stops short of naming which team it is. W

ith plenty of sides struggling in the top flight, Everton and Norwich to name but two, any one of a number clubs could be looking to the former France international as a possible successor to their under-fire managers.

The Verdict

It's far too early for Lamouchi to start looking to leave and any club believing he's the answer to their problems is deluded. He's doing well, very well, but he has to achieve something with forest before being considered for a top job.

If he takes them into the Premier League, he'll be a hero and likely afforded more time than the likes of Jokanovic or Wagner were in their brief forays into the Premier League.

However, until he's had a full season of English experience, any links with other clubs are speculative and surely unlikely to bring about a move.
