Jordan Smith will undoubtedly be hoping to do all he can to impress Sabri Lamouchi and extend his Nottingham Forest stay beyond this season.
The 25-year-old found it hard to make an impact under previous managers, and was sent out on loan to both Barnsley and Mansfield Town under Aitor Karanka last season.
His loan spell with Mansfield flattered to deceive, though, after falling behind Conrad Logan in the pecking order at the One Call Stadium, but his fortunes have somewhat changed under Sabri Lamouchi.
Smith has made just the one appearance for Forest this season, featuring in the 2-0 FA Cup defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but he has been a regular on the substitute’s bench.
Can you get 15 out of 15 on this Forest quiz?
Of course, he would rather be playing ahead of Brice Samba rather than supporting him from the dugout, but having moved above Aro Muric and Costel Pantilimon in the pecking order, he will still be happy with the way he’s been brought back in from the cold.
Smith’s deal at the City Ground expires at the end of this season, and Forest fans have recently been debating whether the club should offer him a new deal at the City Ground.
Here’s what they had to say on Twitter…
Sabri clearly likes him. Why not. Don’t have to buy another gk then #NFFC
