Nottingham Forest midfielder Ryan Yates has taken to Twitter to share a message with the club's fans following his side's promotion to the Premier League.

The Reds sealed a place in the top-flight by defeating Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final yesterday.

In what turned out to be a tight affair at Wembley Stadium, Forest netted the winning goal in the first-half of this fixture.

Yates went close to giving the Reds the lead in the 12th minute as he headed an effort just wide of the target.

Forest opened the scoring just before half-time as James Garner's fantastic cross was diverted past goalkeeper Lee Nicholls by Huddersfield defender Levi Colwill.

Following the break, Huddersfield pushed for an equaliser and had two penalty appeals rejected by referee Jon Moss.

Forest were able to fend off the Terriers in the closing stages of the game to secure a memorable victory.

The Reds will now be preparing for life in the Premier League in the coming months.

Following his side's promotion, Yates took to Twitter to dedicate the victory to the club's supporters.

The midfielder posted an image of himself holding the play-off trophy with the caption: "For you Reds."

The Verdict

When you consider that Forest's fans have unquestionably played a role in the club's success in recent months, it is hardly a surprise that Yates has dedicated this win to them.

A product of the club's youth academy, the midfielder will now get the chance to represent the Reds at the highest level later this year.

When you consider that Yates managed to score nine goals in all competitions last season, it will be interesting to see whether he can add to his overall Forest tally in the top-flight.

Given that Yates has improved significantly as a player under the guidance of Steve Cooper, it wouldn't be a shock if he goes on to produce some impressive performances in the Premier League during the 2022/23 campaign.
