In his previous spell at the club he broke a 53-year-old club record by scoring in eight consecutive games.

The 35-year-old scored 20 goals for Tranmere Rovers last season despite the Prenton Park side falling through the League One relegation trap door.

Lowe left the Shakers in August 2011 for an undisclosed six-figure fee to Sheffield Wednesday but left a year later to sign for MK Dons.
