Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe has issued an update on the future of two of his players ahead of their Championship opener this afternoon.

The club get their campaign underway away from home against Wigan Athletic later today.

Speaking ahead of the tie, Lowe has clarified the situation of transfer listed duo Matthew Olosunde and Josh Harrop.

“Matt had a tight calf but he's back training with us, he missed the Leicester game but he's alright now,” Lowe explained, via the Lancashire Post.

"Josh Harrop has been made aware that his future lies elsewhere but until his agent comes back with some work to say that he's found him somewhere then he's doing his own bits and bobs.

"He's not integrating with the group at all because he needs to find a solution and a way of going to find some games.

"He's been fine in himself, he's fit and ready, we're just waiting for the phone to ring with him. Matt, until something comes along, is that right hand side. It's basically waiting for the phone to ring.

"The attitude of the two boys has been fantastic, even knowing that they've been made available.”

Wigan Athletic vs Preston North End is set for a 3pm kick-off this afternoon.

The Verdict

Given how little football he has played for Preston North end in recent seasosn, perhaps it is no surprise Josh Harrop is not seen as part of the club's future.

The 26-year-old has spent time on loan down in League One for the last two seasons and a drop down to the third tier could once again be on the cards this summer.

Olosunde, meanwhile, continues to be a part of the squad despite also having featured very little for North End last season.

After two bad injuries being the reason for his absence, perhaps he is being given more leeway this pre-season to show what he can do, rather than just removing him from the group completely which seems to be the case with Harrop.
