Leeds United's under 23's side clinched the PDL North league title on Monday evening as they ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Colchester.

Ryan Edmondson netted a brace on the night which proved to be the difference between the two sides, as the Whites capitalised on Burnley's slip up earlier in the day.

Edmondson took to Twitter following the win, and praised his team-mates for their hard work during this year's title-winning campaign.

The young forward is the top scorer in the under 23's side, and he'll be hoping he can continue his fine run of form heading towards the end of this season.

He has 14 league goals to his name so far and will be confident of adding to that tally, with the pressure now off of the under 23's team after sealing the league title.

With eight league games remaining for the first-team, Edmondson will be keen to get some minutes under his belt for the first-team as they challenge for a long-awaited return to the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's side are currently sat 3rd in the Championship table, and will fancy their chances in making up ground on Norwich City and Sheffield United before the season concludes.

The Verdict:

He's got a bright future ahead of him.

I'm surprised that Bielsa has chosen not to use him in the first-team picture this season, as he's evidently got something about him after such an impressive season.

He'll be hoping to get his chance before the season reaches a conclusion in May.
