Cardiff City manager Russell Slade has come under much criticism from the Welsh fans, but he insists next season will be their year.

Slade wants to get Cardiff back in the top-flight

With only 11 wins from Slade's 31 league games in charge, the Cardiff faithful have understandingly been more than disappointed with the impact the former Yeovil Town and Brighton boss has made.

Although, despite the negatives coming from both fans and neutrals, Slade has insisted he is the man to take the Bluebirds to the Premier League next season.

"The expectations from last season to try and return to the Premier League makes it more difficult and many fans want a big name at Cardiff to try and ensure they do that." Slade told Wales Online

“There is no doubt that our aim is to be in the top six next season. That’s where we want to be and that is a target we believe we can achieve.

“The average finish for a team after relegation from the Premier League is about mid-table and then they go again. But we’ve seen before when teams continue to go downwards. You have to regroup and sometimes those who don’t have paid the price."

Following a boycott and a positive win at Elland Road, the Bluebirds make the long journey up the North East to Ipswich Town on Tuesday night and will hope to dent the Tractor Boys' play-off ambitions.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan has only proven the Bluebirds' disappointing season by paying for the fans' bus fare to the game in an apology for what has been a difficult season.

The Bluebirds sit 12th in the Sky Bet Championship table on 55 points and will be looking to finish the season strongly in these final four games.
