The former MK Dons boss has claimed he wants to build a team that the fans can be proud of, and that he is hopeful for an even better campaign over the next 12 months.

“So grateful to be Head Coach of this special club and for how much the players have given us since we walked through the door at Fairwood,” added Martin.

“A brilliant group to work with every day and I’ve enjoyed watching our team grow so much. Already excited about next season and ensuring we improve on this one.

“Another thank you to the supporters who have been so kind and welcoming to me and my family, the support you give to our team will never be taken for granted.

“Thanks for sticking with us this season through everything and for understanding what we are trying to build. We will all work as hard as we can to give you a team to be proud of.”

The team ended the season with some outstanding performances before eventually petering out with two defeats from their final two games.

Swansea will now prepare for the upcoming summer transfer window, as the team looks to strengthen going into a crucial campaign ahead.

The Verdict

While the team couldn’t live up to the highs of the previous campaign, there was certainly enough progress made for the club to stay behind Martin into next season.

The team really took to his methods over the final months of the term with some very promising performances.

The most noteworthy of which came in the South Wales derby, where Swansea earned the first league double over Cardiff City in the 110-year history of the rivalry.

But the team will need to be competing higher up the table next season if Martin is to maintain his position at the club in the long-term.
