A number of Birmingham City supporters have praised the performance of midfielder Ivan Sunjic off the bench in the Blues’ 3-0 defeat at Peterborough United on Saturday.
Lee Bowyer’s side endured a very difficult afternoon against Peterborough where they were unable to reach the same sort of levels of performance as they have been able to do for most of the season so far.
In a torrid first half the Blues went two goals behind with them having been guilty of making too many mistakes at the back and not being strong enough in the midfield.
That came with Bowyer having made the decision to start without Sunjic and go with a pairing of Gary Gardner and Ryan Woods.
Sunjic though was brought on at half time alongside Dion Sanderson and the pair were able to help improve things for the Blues during the second 45 minutes.
The midfielder managed to show how vital he is to Birmingham this season by constantly working hard out of possession. That ensured the Blues were able to limit the damage they suffered, especially after Gardner was sent off.
Many Birmingham fans appreciated the display from the bench of Sunjic at Peterborough and they were all in agreement that he needs to be in their starting line-up for the foreseeable future.
