West Ham United are nearing the signing of John Stones from Manchester City, which could open the door for Bristol City or Watford to push the signing of Chey Dunkley.
David Moyes and West Ham have been linked with most every Championship player in the past few weeks. Last month they were reportedly looking at Wigan pair Antonee Robinson and Cedric Kipre – both have been linked with a number of clubs.
Kipre and Dunkley are wanted men at Wigan and now with West Ham seemingly losing interest in Kipre, it could potentially move along the transfer of his defensive comrade Dunkley to either Bristol City or Watford.

He featured 26 times in the Championship last season and scored six goals as Wigan were relegated. In what was his third season at the club he would become a huge favourite amongst the fans, but now looks set to depart amid the uncertainty at Wigan.
A Championship move looks like for Dunkley, who missed the remainder of the season through injury. Both Bristol City and Watford are managerless, with Watford being relegated to the Championship on the final day of the Premier League season.
Dunkley is a reputable Championship defender, and a prolific one too. He’d be a solid signing for either Bristol City or Watford and with Wigan amid ongoing controversy, Dunkley could be going on the cheap.
Wigan’s squad is being picked apart by rival Championship sides and now with West Ham looking like they’ll pass on Kipre, it leaves Dunkley more vulnerable to the exit – both teams would have to move fast to land Dunkley though, with more teams likely to join the race to sign him.
