Plymouth Argyle striker Freddie Ladapo has shared an update on his Instagram that appears to offer details on the whereabouts of sought-after attacking-midfielder Ruben Lameiras.
Lameiras has been the subject of plenty of transfer speculation this summer with Charlton Athletic and Swansea City among those reportedly chasing the Green Army’s talisman.
Posting on his Instagram story, Ladapo shared a video of himself and his teammates but accompanied it with the caption: “I haven’t seen @rubenlameiras all summer.”
Although last season ended in relegation for Plymouth, it marked an excellent season for the Portuguese, scoring 11 goals in 41 league matches as well as assisting nine more for his teammates.
And Plymouth Live reported at the start of June that Lee Bowyer was showing an interest in bringing him to The Valley following his side’s promotion-winning campaign.
The Guardian then reported that Swansea had joined the race for his signature.
He would become the second influential creative threat to leave Home Park this summer after Graham Carey made the irregular decision to join CSKA Sofia.
I am sure that Ladapo meant little from his story but it will only add extra fuel to the fire that he will be leaving the club this summer.
Relegation looks set to hit Plymouth pretty hard with a host of attacking talents, including Ladapo, set to leave or at least be the subject of intense interest.
Lameiras would make an excellent signing for either Charlton or Swansea – with Joe Aribo set to leave the Addicks and Swansea still seeking to replace Dan James’ influence – having more than earned his chance in the Championship so it will be interesting to see who wins the race for his signature.
