David Prutton is expecting Derby County to pick up a fifth consecutive victory this afternoon when they face Reading, with Gary Rowett’s side continuing their rise up the Sky Bet Championship table, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has predicted the Rams to continue their fine form in the Championship, and end Reading’s mini revival with a 2-1 victory at the Pride Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Derby enter the contest in sixth, having catapulted through the Championship in recent weeks with four consecutive victories. Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday were both beaten 2-0 in Derby’s last home fixtures, before Rowett’s side extended their magnificent run with back-to-back victories away from home over the last week.

Rowett’s side picked up 2-1 victories at Carrow Road and Elland Road, dealing both Norwich City and Leeds United a significant blow in their respective quest for the top-six.

Reading have struggled to have a positive impact in the Championship this season, with Jaap Stam’s side currently in 20th with just 15 points. The Royals do enter this weekend on the back of a victory, with Stam’s side lifting the growing pressure on him with a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

The Verdict

Derby are in formidable form heading into the contest, and a look at the form table suggests that Rowett’s side will be picking up three points this afternoon.

However, the Championship is an unpredictable division, and with Derby having two difficult trips away from home in the last week, Reading will fancy their chance of picking up some points.

It would be no surprise to see an entertaining score draw.
