Derby come in to this season with high hopes that they can finally win promotion to the Premier League, after years of near misses.

With new manager Gary Rowett at the helm, their hopes will have been raised as they have one of the best managers in the Football League in charge, who did a stellar job at Birmingham before he was sacked by the club's new owners.

The Rams have made a number of impressive new additions to the club, with Tom Huddlestone and Curtis Davies the headline incomings, who will add real quality to the ranks.

Their focus is now on attacking players. Tom Lawrence appears to be the prime target for the club, but they may lose out to Brighton in that race. Brentford's Jota also appears to be on the short list.

However, Rowett should be looking to get a bargain and bring Arsenal attacking midfielder Jon Toral, who appears to have no chance of gaining a first-team spot with the Gunners.

With the Rams in search of players to complement their attack, signing Toral would make sense as he would likely be a cheaper, younger alternative to the clubs other shortlisted players.

Add to that the form Toral put together under Gary Rowett at Birmingham in 2015/16, and the move makes absolute sense. He scored eight goals from midfield and created three assists for the Blues, and played a key part in their season.

Toral would be an excellent signing for Derby County and could be the attacking player the club are waiting for. He would certainly help their promotion push.
